Une Valisette

This is the project from my sewing class. A valisette. A little bag that we can use to put things (of course... :) We started to make it together in Jan 10. Then I missed the next session, so I was late in finishing this bag. I just finished it today.

Actually, the corners were supposed to be sewed outside and decorated with buttons. But I preferred to sew them inside like a boxy pouch (coz I had problems with the thickness of the corners).

And the result is not bad... Thanks to the powerful Bernina Sport that I used during the process. Gosh, I love that machine.. I think I am getting used to it. I will not bring my own sewing machine to the class *falling in love with that old Bernina ~ sorry my Brother...*

*The 'valisette' is supposed to be like in here: http://easycouture.centerblog.net/rub-valisette-.html.
* The tutorial in french is in here: Un Petit Bout de Fil

More Cloth Pads

This week, I made some more cloth pads for myself. Considering my condition, I really needed those pads *I used so many these days* I tried two new patterns that I found in the internet, and finally I preferred this one: Blue Dinosaurs. I did not follow the exact instructions but basically what I did was nearly the same.

I used the fabric scraps of cloth trainers I made 2 years ago (unless the soft pink PUL, it was never been used). So, outer fabrics were PULs, inner fabrics were suede cloths, the soaker fabrics were bamboo soft terry and towel cotton terry. For the bigger pads, all soakers were using bamboo soft terry fabrics, one with 3 layers, another one with 4 layers. The small pad was using another pattern (I forgot the link) and mixed soakers (bamboo and cotton terry).

I should topstitch the pads... yes I know... >_< Well, I thought more about their functions...

I plan to make two or three more but I am waiting for my current order, Zorb fabric. Zorb is claimed to be very absorbent (usually for cloth diapers). Couple days ago, I finally found someone in France that sells this fabric (via A Little Mercerie). Ok, it will be my next experiment :D

January Sewing

Well... After couple weeks of my "sewing hibernation" because of my uncomfortable hormonal condition and my pregnancy loss, now I could restart again. I need to move on and focus on creative things. I have to be busy *this might be my self defense mechanism >_< *

I continued my plan to make some new cloth diapers but only for sewing tutorial purpose. I posted my first cloth diaper sewing tutorial in Indonesian language at Cloth Diapering Parents Indonesia's blog (milispopokkain.wordpress.com). It was using RRP free pattern. I hope more Indonesian mommies can make cloth diapers for their sweeties.

Then I made one nightgown for my little E because she needed it. She liked the cupcakes print on it (she's so "gourmande"). During this cold weather, she is wearing the nightgown together with a pair of leggings. Ah yes, I used the pattern of Sadie Grace Nightgown by Seamingly Smitten. It's a simple pattern and great for a beginner.

At my sewing group at ASELQO, I was learning to make a "valisette", a kind of bag. It's not finished yet. I will continue it next Thursday.

And... Couple days ago I received more fabrics from my mom (thank you again, mommy :*). Love them all and I'm very excited to plan some more projects. Have I said that I got a Lisa Lam book? Bought it from Book Depository UK. It's the latest book of Lisa Lam. I wanted to have it since a long long time ago... Finally I bought it *yes*. I think some of fabrics that I've just received can be transformed into some cute bags, especially those Vera Bradley fabrics :)

Ah, I almost forgot something. I got one big happy day when I saw my face on one local newspaper. It was an article about my winning at the balcony gardening contest (I wrote about it at my previous posts). Gosh... It was really a good timing, right? A fantastic mental booster (I don't know why I chose those words >_< ) during stormy days... The article also mentioned about my passion on sewing :) The online version of the article can be found in here, but we can not read the full article unless we subscribe.

Ok, me, cheer up... And happy sewing to all of you...!

My First Atelier Cuisine

Years ago, during my study time at the university, I took one baking class (3 days) with my Psychology friends. It was a baking thing. Bread, croissant, sponge cake... what else? I don't remember. Mostly about the bread. The class was at a baking school in Bogasari Flour Mills, a giant flour company in Indonesia. Now the baking school becomes Bogasari Baking Center. At my time, it was free. We just needed to pay for the group transportation from our university in Depok until the baking school at North of Jakarta.

Today, I had my first cooking class. My first. Remember that I won the contest of balcony gardening by d'Aucy? I won the cooking class for 4 persons. So I went to the cooking class with 3 others: my husband, my sister-in-law and my friend, Antie. It was fun... At the end, we had lunch together, tasting all the food that we made: Velouté de butternut aux champignons, Lasagnes aux légumes et Tatin de fenouil (all about vegetables!). Cooking class was located at Atelier Cuisine Entre Bouche & Oreilles, Ingré (http://entreboucheetoreilles.fr/).

Voilà, some photos:

Merci d'Aucy pour cette opportunité!
